Sarapin
Unlike corticosteroids and cortisone injections, which can be toxic, plant based Sarapin is non-toxic and does not accumulate in the organs. Another Sarapin advantage is that it does not damage or weaken cartilage, bones or tendons, making it possible to administer Sarapin treatments multiple times within a short period of time for maximum pain relief.
Both Sarapin and cortisone reduce inflammation but this is where the similarities end. Cortisone does have the advantage when treating very acute pain, while sarapin is most effective when used for chronic pain. Sarapin works by blocking the transmission of pain signals to the brain, unlike corticosteroids which may alter motor function, heat, cold and pressure sensations. All tissue including bones, nerves and muscles are made up of cells. Cells can often repair themselves but when injected with corticosteroids, the cell is basically placed in suspension. This means the cell no longer functions properly, which is why it no longer sends pain signals. This is great, however many other functions of the cell are also put on hold including its ability to repair itself. Because Sarapin only stops the pain and does not affect all the other functions, the cell is still able to repair itself.
Sarapin is injected several times over the course of 4-12 weeks and is most effective when combined with other treatments such as physical therapy and electro-analgesic treatments. We have seen great results using Sarapin in patients with chronic pain.
