Chiropractic Care

Cervical spine X-ray Spinal joints can become restricted and inflamed due to tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused through normal repetitive stresses on the body such as sitting at a desk with poor posture for extended periods of time or because of some type of physical injury to the body. Tissues that have been injured undergo physical and chemical changes that cause decreased function, inflammation and mild to severe pain. The joints become hypo-mobile as a result of tissue injury.  This causes interference with and irritation of nerve roots that exit the spine which cause more pain and other health problems.

Doctors of Chiropractic are trained to locate these hypo-mobile joints, also called subluxations. Many times patients are surprised to find out that the problem area is not at all where they are actually feeling the symptom of the pain. By providing gentle chiropractic adjustments also called spinal manipulations to these spinal joints, a chiropractor decreases these restrictions and inflammation, restoring nerve function and proper biomechanical spinal motion.  The Doctors of Chiropractic at Total HealthCare use many different adjusting techniques, including manual or "hands on" procedures.

Dr. Daniel (D.C.) Asks some important questions of interest to Norcross residents - Chiropractor Norcross Dr. Daniel (D.C.) Asks...

Can someone who has had back surgery receive chiropractic care?
Yes. Rest assured that we will avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine. However, what we find is that surgical interventions will often produce spinal instability above or below the involved level. This is will be the focus of your chiropractic care.
What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of many drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The effects of chiropractic are largely positive effects. If you're a Norcross parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
